Listhings is a virtual bulletin board that allows users to keep notes and organize them however they see fit. As soon as a user arrives on the Listhings website, they are given access to their first note, which can be moved or resized. Additional notes can also be added so the user can create a fully functional online note board. The first note is shown in yellow while each new note appears in a different color, making it easier to organize the entire board. Listhings provides its service as an easy way to save almost any quick note, from a phone number to a favorite song list, to do list, shopping list or anything else that warrants the use of a post it style note. Users can also connect to Listhings through Twitter and Facebook.

Listhings was founded in April of 2009 by Martin Tajur. The application was intended to give users a convenient way to store notes and stay organized without wasting paper or losing a note in the process. The site places an emphasis on being green, claiming that it is hosted by a 100% carbon neutral company. Today, users can create any kind of notes they want or need quickly and easily on Listhings.

Listhings offers a very simple service that works very well. Users can create customized notes that are simple, but effective. The application even allows users to resize and shift notes freely on the bulletin board style page. Listhings is extremely simple, which also means learning how to use it takes no time at all. Users can begin as soon as they arrive on the site by editing the single note paper provided or by adding more.

Overall, Listhings appears just like real life message board. The background has a brown texture similar to corkboard. Small, colored note papers appear (complete with a shadow for a three dimensional appearance). Each new paper comes in a different color, from light yellow to pastel green and dark grey or red. The user can drag and drop each note where they want it or resize them. A small “Add Note” button is found in the upper, right hand corner so the user can place additional notes as they need them.

A new user can create a Listhings account by clicking the green and white “Sign up” button in the lower, left hand corner of the homepage. A transparent, black pop up box appears asking the user to provide an email address and password. A short note at the bottom of the box advises the user that by submitting their information, they are automatically agreeing to the Listhings terms of service. Once the information has been submitted, the user is taken back to the bulletin board area and can immediately begin editing, creating and organizing their notes.

Listhings provides a simple service that would be hard to charge a fee for. Although the service is basic, it is well done through the application. Anyone can try it out or create an account for free. There are no subscription fees or registration costs. Users can return as often as they like and continue adding and editing notes. Listhings does not currently offer a premium paid membership option, either, with no indication that this will change anytime soon.

Listhings is a helpful application for anyone who wants to find a better way to get organized. Users who are concerned about the Earth can really appreciate the paperless nature of the site. It’s also convenient for users. As long as the user has internet access, they can access their Listhings notes.
